What is ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a condition that includes symptoms such as inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness.

ADHD is characterised by persistent patterns of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity that can impact daily functioning and quality of life. People with ADHD may exhibit a variety of symptoms, but not everyone will experience the same ones.

Inattention symptoms include difficulty sustaining attention, being easily distracted, forgetfulness, and difficulty organising tasks or activities.

Hyperactivity symptoms may include restlessness, excessive talking, difficulty staying seated, and always being on the go. Impulsivity symptoms can manifest as acting without thinking, interrupting others, and having difficulty waiting for one’s turn.

ADHD is typically diagnosed based on the presence of these symptoms and their impact on various areas of life, such as school, work, and relationships. The exact cause of ADHD is not known, but it is believed to result from a combination of genetic, environmental, and neurological factors.

Is it a disorder? ADHD can bring extreme difficulties, but it can bring extreme advantages, so depends how you look at it.
